Ultrasound

Ultrasounds are non-invasive, pain-free, and entirely safe for your furry friend.

Advanced Diagnostic Imaging Using Ultrasound Technology

Our veterinarians can tell a lot about your pet’s overall health by performing a physical exam. In many instances, though, they need to look a bit deeper. They commonly rely on our ultrasound equipment to obtain clear pictures of the patient’s internal structures in these cases. Ultrasound machines use soundwaves rather than the radiation used by x-ray equipment, and they are capable of producing detailed images in seconds. Ultrasounds are non-invasive, pain-free, and entirely safe for your furry friend. If your dog or cat needs an ultrasound in Kendall, we can help!

How It Works

We use ultrasound technology to examine a pet’s liver, lymph nodes, spleen, pancreas, heart, intestinal tract, reproductive organs, or eyes. This technology also allows us to examine masses, cysts, abscesses, and nodules.

During an exam, the device emits sound waves. These waves bounce back to the machine when they come in contact with organs and other structures. The reflected waves are then translated into detailed images of the patient’s internal structures. Because this technology relies on sound waves rather than radiation, it is completely safe. Ultrasound exams take just a few minutes, and in most cases, there is no need for sedation or anesthesia.
